Key #14 -The Key of Wisdom

Proverbs 24:3: Through wisdom a house is built, and by understanding it is established;

We know that wisdom, knowledge, and understanding come from God. Proverbs 2:6 tells us, “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.” There are three things at work here: knowledge, understanding, and wisdom. Knowledge is information, understanding is the ability to interpret that information, and wisdom is the ability to apply it at the right time, in the proper manner.

Wisdom is the crown of the three. You can know many things and understand many things, but if you don’t know how to live it out, it profits you nothing. Only wisdom can show you when is the right moment to speak, and when you should wait, how to respond, and how to make godly choices in moments and situations where human logic and reason will fail you. Logic told Noah that building an ark was pointless; logic told Abraham that leaving his home for an unknown place was foolish; logic told Peter that stepping out of a boat during a storm was a bad idea. Yet, thank God, they didn’t rely on logic. It is important to say that wisdom doesn’t ignore reason; it transcends it. Reason operates in the natural realm, while wisdom sees the supernatural.

If wisdom is so important, can I obtain it, and if so, how can I? Those are important and good questions; I am glad you asked. The Bible says in Proverbs 9:10, The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Everything starts with the reverence and awe of God when we recognize His holiness, authority, and justice.

The Bible reference in Proverbs 9:10 to the fear of the Lord isn’t about terror but rather reverence. We must honor God above self, above culture, above the things of this world, and against the fleeting pleasures of flesh. James then tells us that anyone can receive wisdom. If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him (James 1:5). This means that anyone can ask, and God will give it to you. Then David tells us, “The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple” (Psalm 19:7). God’s Word gives wisdom to those who accept it and put it into practice. This will, in turn, bring blessings and favor over your life. So, once you walk in wisdom, how do you keep it? Stay humble. “When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom” (Proverbs 11:2).  Stay teachable, stay open to correction, and surround yourself by godly voices that will shape you and mold you; “He who walks with wise men will be wise, but the companion of fools will be destroyed” (Proverbs 13:20). Keep in mind that the source of wisdom is God. It’s through His spirit as Paul explains, “These things we also speak, not in words which man’s wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches” (1 Corinthians 2:13).

So, take the Key of Wisdom, and let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom (Colossians 3:16). Wisdom isn’t usually obtained overnight, so start with the fear of the Lord, and ask Him for it, cultivating it through prayer, study, humility, and obedience.

Llave #14 - La Llave de Sabiduría

Proverbios 24:3: Con sabiduría se edificará la casa, Y con prudencia se afirmará;

Sabemos que la sabiduría, el conocimiento y el entendimiento provienen de Dios. Proverbios 2:6 nos dice: Porque Jehová da la sabiduría, Y de su boca viene el conocimiento y la inteligencia. Aquí hay tres cosas en juego: el conocimiento, la inteligencia y la sabiduría. El conocimiento es información, la inteligencia o entendimiento es la capacidad de interpretar esa información y la sabiduría es la capacidad de aplicarla en el momento adecuado y de la manera adecuada.

La sabiduría es la corona de los tres. Puedes saber muchas cosas y comprender muchas cosas, pero si no sabes cómo vivirlas, no te sirven de nada. Solo la sabiduría puede mostrarte cuándo es el momento adecuado para hablar y cuándo debes esperar, cómo responder y cómo tomar decisiones piadosas en momentos y situaciones en los que la lógica y la razón humanas te fallarán. La lógica le dijo a Noé que construir un arca no tenía sentido; la lógica le dijo a Abraham que dejar su hogar por un lugar desconocido era una locura; la lógica le dijo a Pedro que salir de un barco durante una tormenta era una mala idea. Sin embargo, gracias a Dios, no se basaron en la lógica. Es importante decir que la sabiduría no ignora la razón, sino que la trasciende. La razón opera en el ámbito natural, mientras que la sabiduría ve lo sobrenatural.

Si la sabiduría es tan importante, ¿puedo obtenerla? y, si es así, ¿cómo puedo hacerlo? Esas son preguntas importantes y buenas; y me alegro de que las hayas hecho. La Biblia dice en Proverbios 9:10: El temor de Jehová es el principio de la sabiduría, Y el conocimiento del Santísimo es la inteligencia. Todo comienza con la reverencia y el temor reverencial a Dios cuando reconocemos su santidad, autoridad y justicia.

La referencia bíblica en Proverbios 9:10 al temor del Señor no se refiere al terror, sino más bien a la reverencia. Debemos honrar a Dios por encima de nosotros mismos, por encima de la cultura, por encima de las cosas de este mundo y en contra de los placeres fugaces de la carne. Santiago nos dice entonces que cualquiera puede recibir sabiduría. Y si alguno de vosotros tiene falta de sabiduría, pídala a Dios, el cual da a todos abundantemente y sin reproche, y le será dada(Santiago 1:5). Esto significa que cualquiera puede pedirla, y Dios se la dará. Luego David nos dice: La ley de Jehová es perfecta, que convierte el alma; El testimonio de Jehová es fiel, que hace sabio al sencillo. (Salmo 19:7). La Palabra de Dios da sabiduría a quienes la aceptan y la ponen en práctica. Esto, a su vez, traerá bendiciones y favores a tu vida. Entonces, una vez que caminas en sabiduría, ¿cómo la mantienes? Mantente humilde. “Cuando viene la soberbia, viene también la deshonra; Mas con los humildes está la sabiduría” (Proverbios 11:2). Mantente dispuesto a aprender, mantente abierto a la corrección y rodéate de voces piadosas que te moldeen y te formen; “El que anda con sabios, sabio será; Mas el que se junta con necios será quebrantado” (Proverbios 13:20). Ten en cuenta que la fuente de la sabiduría es Dios. Es a través de Su espíritu, como explica Pablo: lo cual también hablamos, no con palabras enseñadas por sabiduría humana, sino con las que enseña el Espíritu, acomodando lo espiritual a lo espiritual (1 Corintios 2:13).

Así que toma la Llave de Sabiduría y deja que la Palabra de Cristo more en ti ricamente en toda sabiduría (Colosenses 3:16). La sabiduría no se obtiene de la noche a la mañana, así que comienza con el temor del Señor y pídele que te la conceda, cultivándola a través de la oración, el estudio, la humildad y la obediencia.
