Key #15 -The Key of Unity

Psalm 133:1: Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

Can you believe that as Jesus was getting ready to be crucified, and the unity of His disciples was on His mind. As God, He was aware of the pain and suffering that awaited Him in the next few days, and yet, the unity of His disciples was so important that it was a concern. This is how important unity in the Church is. Without it, it doesn’t matter how wonderful your experience is. Divisive and disconnected hearts can destroy what the Spirit is trying to build. A divided church loses its witnessing power, weakens its worship, and hinders its effectiveness in the world. Unity is not optional; it is essential to the fulfillment of Christ’s prayer and the affirmation that God’s love is effective and real. If His love isn’t visible in His house, why would anyone believe that our relationship with Him is real? “If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” (1 John 4:20).

As believers, we should walk in love and honor God’s commands. This is important because division drains the Church of its power to influence the world around it, while unity multiplies its effectiveness. I’ve said it many times before, what will make a church thrive is not the preaching, teaching, worship, facilities, or ministries. What makes a church attractive is the Love of Christ in us, expressed to each other. There are good motivational speakers on every social media channel, there is good music at the touch of a button, there are big ministries on every other channel, but what makes a church stand out is the love of Christ exemplified, the love of God in action among us. Paul tells the Church of Philippi, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind (Philippians 2:2).

Let me go deeper into this, unity is a prerequisite for the move of His Spirit. The early Church prayed in one accord, and the Spirit fell. The Holy Spirit does not dwell in division, chaos, or strife. He moves in environments where hearts are aligned, motives are pure, and believers are of one mind and one purpose. The book of Acts shows us that before the outpouring came, the people came together. “These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers” (Acts 1:14). They weren’t just in the same room; they were in the same Spirit. There was no jealousy, no competition, no personal agendas; there was just a unified longing for the promise of God.

It is also important to note that unity doesn’t mean uniformity. It doesn’t mean everyone is the same; it means that we have a shared mission under one Lord. When hearts unite, doors of revival and growth open. The enemy of our souls fears a united Church because he knows he cannot defeat a people who stand together under the banner of Christ.

So, let’s take the Key of Unity together, knowing that a united church carries the power to shake cities, transform nations, and bring revival. Let’s be a united church speaking with one voice, praying with one heart, and moving to fulfill one mission.

“Now I plead with you, brethren, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment” (1 Corinthians 1:10).

Llave #15 -La Llave de la Unidad

Salmos 133:1: ¡Mirad cuán bueno y cuán delicioso es habitar los hermanos juntos en armonía!

¿Puedes creer que mientras Jesús se preparaba para ser crucificado, pensaba en la unidad de sus discípulos? Como Dios, estaba consciente del dolor y el sufrimiento que le esperaban en los días siguientes y, sin embargo, la unidad de sus discípulos era tan importante que le preocupaba aun en ese momento. Así de importante es la unidad en la iglesia para Dios. Sin ella, no importa lo maravillosa que sea tu experiencia. Los corazones divididos y desconectados pueden destruir lo que el Espíritu está tratando de construir. Una iglesia dividida pierde su poder de testificar, debilita su adoración y dificulta su eficacia en el mundo. La unidad no es opcional; es esencial para el cumplimiento de la oración de Cristo y para la afirmación de que el amor de Dios es eficaz y real. Si su amor no es visible en Su propia casa, ¿por qué es que alguien creería que nuestra relación con Él es real? Si alguno dice: Yo amo a Dios, y aborrece a su hermano, es mentiroso. Pues el que no ama a su hermano a quien ha visto, ¿cómo puede amar a Dios a quien no ha visto? (1 Juan 4:20).

Como creyentes, debemos caminar en el amor y honrar los mandamientos de Dios. Esto es importante porque la división agota el poder de la Iglesia para influir en el mundo que la rodea, mientras que la unidad multiplica su eficacia. Lo he dicho muchas veces antes: lo que hace que una iglesia prospere no es la predicación, la enseñanza, la adoración, las instalaciones ni los ministerios. Lo que hace que una iglesia sea atractiva es el amor de Cristo en nosotros, expresado unos a otros. Hay buenos oradores motivacionales en todos los canales de redes sociales; hay buena música al alcance de un botón; hay grandes ministerios en casi todos los canales, pero lo que hace que una iglesia se destaque es el amor de Cristo ejemplificado, el amor de Dios en acción entre nosotros. Pablo le dice a la iglesia de Filipos: Completad mi gozo, sintiendo lo mismo, teniendo el mismo amor, unánimes, sintiendo una misma cosa (Filipenses 2:2).

Permítanme profundizar en esto: la unidad es un requisito previo para el movimiento de Su Espíritu. La Iglesia primitiva oraba juntos y de acuerdo, y el Espíritu descendió. El Espíritu Santo no habita en la división, el caos ni la contienda. Se mueve en entornos donde los corazones están alineados, los motivos son puros y los creyentes tienen una sola mente y un solo propósito. El libro de los Hechos nos muestra que antes de que llegara el derramamiento, el pueblo estaba unido. Todos estos perseveraban unánimes en oración y ruego, con las mujeres, y con María la madre de Jesús, y con sus hermanos (Hechos 1:14). No solo estaban en el mismo salón, sino que tenían el mismo espíritu. No había celos ni competencia ni agendas personales, solo un anhelo unificado de ver la promesa de Dios realizada.

También es importante señalar que la unidad no implica uniformidad. No significa que todos sean iguales, sino que tenemos una misión compartida bajo un solo Señor. Cuando los corazones se unen, se abren las puertas del avivamiento y del crecimiento. El enemigo de nuestra alma teme a una iglesia unida porque sabe que no puede derrotar a un pueblo que se mantiene unido bajo la bandera de Cristo.

Así que tomemos juntos la Llave de la Unidad, sabiendo que una iglesia unida tiene el poder de estremecer ciudades, transformar naciones y provocar avivamiento. Seamos una iglesia unida que habla con una sola voz, ora con un solo corazón y se mueve para cumplir una sola misión.

“Os ruego, pues, hermanos, por el nombre de nuestro Señor Jesucristo, que habléis todos una misma cosa, y que no haya entre vosotros divisiones, sino que estéis perfectamente unidos en una misma mente y en un mismo parecer” (1 Corintios 1:10).
