Control the Center
Chess Strategy 1
Strong players seek to control the central square on the chessboard. When a player controls the center squares, they have greater mobility and are better positioned to respond to threats.
The Biblical Principle
Who holds control of our center matters. In fact, something or someone will always hold control of it. When Christ is central to our decisions, relationships, desires, goals, and even how we respond to adversity, things align with His will. When we allow other things to gain control, we usually end up with fear, depression, pain, and loss.
Jesus said this, “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” – Matthew 6:33
What are those things that will be added? It would seem that people are always looking for the next best thing. The next phone, the next social media platform, the next car model, the next fad. The principle here is to seek the Kingdom and trust the King to take care of the things in life, rather than seek things first, and God second.

- Give God the first portion of your day, before checking your phone, your computer, or the news.
- Write down a specific concern you have that has filled your heart and present it to the Lord in prayer.
- Ask yourself, what can I visibly change this week to put God first?

La Estrategia del Ajedrez
Los jugadores fuertes buscan controlar las casillas centrales del tablero de ajedrez. Cuando un jugador controla las casillas centrales, tiene mayor movilidad y se encuentra en una mejor posición para responder a las amenazas.
El Principio Bíblico
Es importante quién tiene el control de nuestro centro. De hecho, siempre habrá algo o alguien que lo controle. Cuando Cristo ocupa el centro de nuestras decisiones, relaciones, deseos, metas e incluso de nuestra respuesta ante la adversidad, las cosas se alinean con Su voluntad. Cuando permitimos que otras cosas tomen el control, solemos acabar con miedo, depresión, dolor y pérdida.
Jesús dijo lo siguiente: “Mas buscad primeramente el reino de Dios y su justicia, y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas.” - Mateo 6:33
¿Cuáles son esas cosas que se nos darán? Parece que la gente siempre está buscando lo último y mejor. El próximo móvil, la próxima red social, el próximo modelo de coche, la próxima moda. El principio aquí es buscar el Reino y confiar en que el Rey se ocupará de las cosas de la vida, en lugar de buscar primero las cosas y a Dios después.
Pasos Iniciales de Esta Semana
- Dedica a Dios la primera parte de tu día antes de mirar el móvil, la computadora o las noticias.
- Anota una preocupación específica que te ocupe el corazón y preséntasela al Señor en oración.
- Pregúntate: ¿qué puedo cambiar esta semana para poner a Dios en primer lugar?
